Short summary of the job: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team and contribute to the smooth operation of our laboratory facilities. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tests, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. Your role will involve performing experiments, analyzing data, and assisting scientists or researchers in their work. 

Responsibilities

  •  Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and supplies, including ordering, receiving and storing materials.

  • Set up and dismantle laboratory experiments and demonstrations for teachers and students.

  • Monitor laboratory activities to ensure safety procedures are followed and provide guidance to students on safe laboratory practices.

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on laboratory equipment, and coordinate with outside vendors for major repairs and replacements.

  • Assist teachers in preparing laboratory exercises, including creating and modifying lesson plans and instructional materials.

  •  Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, including inventory, equipment usage, and safety inspections.

  • Train and supervise laboratory assistants or student workers as needed.

  • Stay up-to-date with new laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety protocols, and make recommendations for improvements as appropriate.

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, chemistry, biochemistry) or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience working in a laboratory setting, conducting experiments and tests.

  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment, instruments, and techniques related to the specific field.

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and practices.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in conducting experiments, recording data, and following procedures.

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with colleagues.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Understanding of quality control and assurance principles
